چکیده

There is a scarcity of information for reliable and safe protocol semen collection in R. timorensis. The induction general anesthesia by Ketamine-Xylazine both intravenous intramuscular routes provides valuable the practicality procedure. Five healthy matured Rusa timorensisstags, aged more than 3 years, weighing an average 68.5 ± 2.4 kg were selected this experiment. General anaesthesia was conducted using combination Ketamine Xylazine at dosage 2mg/kg, 1mg/kg respectively routes. procedure performed from April to November 2012 resulting 30 collections. physiological parameters included respiratory rate, heart rate temperature before, during post-procedure. onset, recovery total time are significantly different between IV IM route 5.13 0.88 min, 7.47 1.61 18.67 1.47 11.67 1.44 11.73 1.03 min and, 29.07 4.01 respectively. Meanwhile, there no significant difference duration 15.27 3.03 17.40 3.55 Both provide same success yield quality, however, desirable due fast time. integral restraining wild cervidae, drug administration should be considered deer.

NITROGEN METABOLISM IN RUSA DEER (Cervus timorensis)

Dry matter intake, nitrogen intake, nitrogen digestibility, rumen ammonia-N and plasma urea-N concentration were measured in young rusa deer fed 4 diets containing 90 to 205 g/kg DM crude protein. The level of crude protein associated with maximal voluntary food intake and dry matter digestibility for these animals was found to be about 160 g/kg DM. Plasma urea-N was positively related to rumen...

Comparative evaluation of clinical efficiency of intramuscular diazepam-ketamine, medetomidine-ketamine, and xylazine-ketamine anaesthesia in Ring-necked pheasants (Phasianus colchicus)

Background: Several injectable anaesthetics and sedatives are used in various avian species for general anaesthesia. Birds are very sensitive animals and any mismanagement in a crisis can lead to immediate shock and death. Therefore, careful selection of the safest possible anaesthetic agent and dose is very important. Aims: The aim of this study was to examine...
